A small group of Buddhist monks is walking silently across the United States, traveling more than 2,300 miles from Texas to Washington, D.C. This Walk for Peace is not a protest or a campaign. It’s a gesture — slow, patient, and deeply human.

They move through highways, small towns, and city streets without signs or slogans. People notice naturally. Drivers slow down. Shop owners step outside. Some walk alongside them for a few moments. Others simply watch, feeling something they can’t quite name.

Walking beside the monks is Aloka, a rescued dog whose calm presence has become a symbol of kindness and quiet loyalty. Together, they remind people that peace doesn’t always arrive through big statements. Sometimes it arrives like a handwritten message — gentle, sincere, and unexpected.

In a world full of urgency, this journey offers something rare: courtesy, patience, and care for one another.
