Tesla and SpaceX unveil the new Tesla Roadster live, and it flies. Elon Musk and the Roadster engineering team show off SpaceX-derived thrusters fed by two carbon pressure vessels holding about 250 kg of air through 10 nozzles, a fan suction system that pulls up to 2 G of downforce so the car can corner past normal tire grip and even stick upside down, a variable-pitch rear wing, and a steer-by-wire yoke, brake and throttle. Elon says it will be Tesla's only manually driven car long-term, a live 0–60 mph run is timed at under a second, top speed is over 230 mph with Mach 0.5 as the goal, a Snake River Canyon jump is teased, and production is set for 2028.
