A “no” from Iceland to the European Union. Not even to joining the bloc, but to resuming accession talks at all. The EU sought to woo the island nation, but the prospect was evidently not attractive enough for the majority of Icelanders.

- 7 DEAD AFTER FERRY CAPSIZES OFF CYPRUS
At least seven people are dead, and more than 20 remain missing after a ferry capsized off northern Cyprus. More than 230 passengers were saved as search-and-rescue operations continue.
