We were impressed by the scope of this colossal project, which will last 18 months. It's rich in visuals and rich in challenges: technical, industrial, military, technological, and human. Beyond the "Major Check-up" aspect, which will be covered in the first documentary, this project will literally give a second life to the ship that symbolizes French power: projecting itself into the future with the transition to an all-Rafale fleet. An aircraft carrier from the 1980s will be completely transformed to fit into the decades to come. This is the aspect that will be explored here. To achieve this, there will be up to 1,500 to 2,000 workers on site. 4 million hours of work, 160 partners (mostly French), 200,000 tasks to complete. A near-city has been built for the hundreds of sailors from the Charles de Gaulle who will be working on the project. We believe it's fascinating to share this modernization adventure from the inside, to highlight its various aspects: mechanical, industrial, strategic, economic, military, and human. To understand this modernization, we will meet with leading experts: military personnel, sailors, engineers, pilots, experts from the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA), DCNS, and others. We will also showcase the expertise of some of our partners, such as Thales.
