Middle East latest: Iran foreign minister rules out direct talks with US in Pakistan

According to reports on Friday, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are headed to Pakistan. "The Iranians want to talk," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, adding that Vice President JD Vance was "on standby" to also travel to the region if help is needed in negotiating a deal between Iran and the United States. The news of continued peace talks comes as the United States military currently has three aircraft carriers operating in the Middle East. The USS Abraham Lincoln, the USS Gerald R. Ford and the USS George H.W. Bush, collectively have over 200 aircraft, 15,000 sailors and marines.
