Trump meets with Japan's first female PM, touts US alliance

President Donald Trump touted the U.S.-Japan relationship during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Tuesday morning local time in Tokyo. "I have always had a great love of Japan, and a great respect of Japan... anything I can do to help Japan, we will be there," he said. "We are an ally at the strongest level."

According to the White House, the leaders signed agreements on "strategic investments and critical minerals — ushering in a new Golden Age for the U.S.-Japan alliance." The visit is part of Trump's trip to Asia, where he's scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.
