War LIVE: Ukraine's general staff said it struck Russian airfields in Saratov and Ryazan regions, in addition to fuel reservoirs, during an overnight attack on Friday (June 6).

Ukraine has not targeted energy facilities in Russia since the middle of March, when a month-long pause in attacks on energy facilities was brokered by the United States.

In one of the last such incidents, a March 14 drone strike caused a fire at Russia's Black Sea Tuapse oil refinery that was put out after three days.

"The Ukrainian Defence Forces launched a preemptive strike. On the eve of the massive enemy attack, enemy airfields and other important military facilities were hit," the Ukrainian military said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app.

Reuters was able to confirm the location by the utility poles, signs, chimney, road crossing and road layout which matched file and satellite imagery of the area. The smoke seen in the video is coming from the direction of the oil depot. The date when the video was filmed could not be independently verified, however local authorities said there was a fire at one of the industrial enterprises in the area as a result of a drone attack.
